The preoperative holdingarea nurse's primary responsibility is to provide information and emotionalsupport for patients and their family members, to ensure that all preoperativedata have been accumulated, and to maintain patients' baseline hemodynamicstatuses.

Aboutthis unit:

• Averages 16 patients per day.
• Desirable work schedule - Monday through Friday, nonights or weekends.

• Underthe general direction of the Clinical Manager/Director, coordinates andprovides preoperative testing and education.
• Responsible for gathering health histories, appropriate orders, resultsand medication lists.
• Nursing care isprovided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable stateNursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, the generic and unitstructure standards and/or ASPAN Standards of care if appropriate.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with either an ADN or BSN degree.
• Must hold a current Registered Nurse license from the Kansas State Board of Nursing. BLS from American Heart Association required upon hire.
• Clinical experience appropriate to area worked. 1 Year Medical Surgical Experience preferred.
