The Sr Pipeline Technician is responsible for ensuring the day to day safe operations of all pipeline and pump station related facilities and equipment. Person must understand the fundamentals of both gas and liquid pipeline transportation, hydrocarbon measurement, instrumentation related to the operation of a pipeline facilities and safety measures i.e., SCADA, Leak Detection, LOTO, JSA, MOC processes. Regulatory compliance related tasks including but not limited to: cathodic protection surveys, Right-Of-Way surveillance, Dig Alerts (USA), Operator Qualification (OQ). Basic mechanical ability. Successful candidate must be able to pass all pre-employment DOT and Company background checks and drug screens including hair testing.

Essential Functions:

Work safely and constantly to ensure the safety of all pipeline and pump station equipment and facilities.

Understand the basics of federal, state, and local pipeline regulations and how to follow them. Being familiar with 49 CFR 195 and 30 CFR 250 Subpart S (SEMS) regulatory compliance is required.

Be able to read, understand and follow all procedures and policies. The Sr. Pipeline Technician is responsible for documenting daily operations, and completing all forms and checklist necessary to maintain a safe and compliant work site.

Understanding and following all safety procedures including, but not limited to, Lock Out Tag Out and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures for pipelines and equipment.

Plan, assist, coordinate, schedule and document various pipeline related tasks and projects including pipeline pigging, both smart, and routine maintenance. Launches, receives, cleans and services pipeline cleaning tools (pigs).

Understand how to collect, process and generate reports using pipeline measurement data from PLC's, LACT meters, field instrumentation, lab analysis, meter proving, how to collect and process samples ie; S&W and API gravity.

Assist with corrosion monitoring programs, this includes coordination with Chemical Specialists for treatments of pipelines and scheduling with Third Party companies to perform Cathodic Protection surveys.

Understand the magnitude of operations. Daily check on all onshore pipelines, systems, equipment and tanks for leaks and damages and to ensure equipment is running within the design limits and is properly and routinely maintained.

This position plans, performs and assists with repairs and maintenance work associated with pipeline operations and equipment.

Must have ability to travel by boat to various offshore oil platforms to inspect, plan or assist with various pipeline related duties.

Must be available to work overtime, at any time, including weekends and holidays if necessary.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

Minimum Education required: High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience required: Minimum of 5 years of direct experience with gas and liquid hydrocarbon pipeline transportation operations and operating equipment

Skills Required:

  1. Motivated, self-starter with a high level of initiative.
  2. Organized, detail oriented and performance driven.
  3. Familiar with 49 CFR 195, and 30 CFR 250 Subpart S
  4. Competent with MS Office Suite.
  5. Clean DMV record with valid driver's license.
  6. Basic mechanical inclination
  7. Good communication skills.
  8. Ability to read and write legibly, understand, and speak English.
  9. Ability to perform basic math skills quickly.
  10. Pass DOT drug screening and background check.
Typical Working Conditions:

Various locations; pumping station, offshore platforms, boat travel and office like environments. Exposure to outside elements associated with pipeline facilities ie; noisy equipment, slight odors, hot equipment, some mild chemicals, rough water conditions.

Good social skills are necessary to meet with personnel in the field, including regulatory agency personnel.

Essential Physical Tasks:

Daily inspections of all facilities(walking), pulling and servicing pigs (heavy items), meter proving, maintenance of various equipment, lifting of items of up to 50 lbs. Housekeeping of facilities and equipment. Climbing stairs, walking on grated and/or uneven surfaces. Kneeling, standing, walking, climbing and staying alert throughout a 12-hour shift.

Ability to see, speak and hear clearly.

Using hands and arms only - hang from a rope in a dead hang for 10 seconds and ability to swing back and forth 3 times across a 10-foot span to transfer between boat and offshore platform.
